What’s the first word that pops into your brain when you look at this?
For a lot of people in the Philippines, that word is ‘delicious’. Tamilok, or woodworms are a delicacy in the Aklan and Palawan provinces of the Philippines.
They’re found inside trees in the mangroves, and you have to split open the wood to find the little critters burrowed inside.
Weirdly enough, these things aren’t actually worms at all, but mollusks (from the snail family) which feed on rotten wood. You just have to pluck ’em, clean ’em, dip ’em and eat ’em! Watch this video from Insider.
