Statue fever shows no sign of dissipating. Almost a month after Modi inaugurated the 182-metre statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the UP government plans to unveil a 221-metre bronze statue of Ram in Ayodhya.
According to News18, the statue itself will be 151-metres tall, and will be put on a 50-metre high pedestal.

The structure will also have a head cover (chhatra) that will be another 20 metres, taking the total height to 221 metres, according to Uttar Pradesh Principal Secretary (Information) Avanish Awasthi.
Five firms shortlisted for the project construction gave presentations before UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath recently. They also plan to build a guest house and beautify the ghats. Soil testing is underway for the statue’s construction.
