The catastrophic bush fires in Australia, which killed over 1000 koalas, burned over 2.5 million acres of Australia’s coast over the last few weeks.

A woman, Toni Doherty, was recorded running straight into danger to save an injured koala, later named Ellenborough Lewis.

Lewis was taken to the Koala hospital in Port Macquarie and was being treated for severe burns to his feet, chest and stomach.
