The Indian Army lost 4 jawans and 2 porters in an avalanche in the northern sector of the Siachen glacier on Monday, 18th November. One among those who lost their lives was Naik Maninder Singh.
Born on 24th August 1990, Singh was just 18 when he joined the Indian Army. A video that is doing the rounds on social media shows that he was not only a brave soldier, but also a great singer.
Those who raise questions on @adgpi , this is Naik Maninder Singh born on August 24, 1990. Two days ago he laid down his life for the nation at Siachen Glacier. He was a good singer but chose to serve the nation over his singing career. pic.twitter.com/bRqckNulsw

Sources suggest that Singh chose to serve the nation over singing. He had inherited this tradition from his father Sukhdev Singh, who also sacrificed his life in the line of duty to the nation.
People on Twitter saluted the soldier for his sacrifice and praised him for choosing to serve the nation.
Simply tragic. Salute you son of India https://t.co/GTorflCWFo

Being a soldier is a choice above all else. This video is as heartbreaking as Naik Singh’s voice is heartwarming. Siachen is the harshest terrain to serve in. Deep respect for him and condolences to his family. May he rest in peace.

Siachen is one of the harshest places to serve in and these soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the avalanche are indeed the bravest.
