Adding another feather to India’s sports cap, Indian sprinter, VK Vismaya, claimed the gold medal at the International Athletic Meeting. She produced a personal best timing of 52.12s at the women 400m run, that took place at the Josef Seckár Memorial (MJS) in Brno, Czech Republic on Wednesday.
The 22-year-old beat MR Poovamma and Subha Venkatesan, who finished second and third with timings of 53.47s and 53.67s respectively.

Vismaya’s performance showed major improvement. Not long ago, she was considered the weak link in India’s 400m women’s relay team. This time, with her timing of 52.12s, she was only 0.03 seconds behind of Hima Das, whose season’s best has been 52.09.
