Today, there are incidents out there that appear more like the plot of a crime fiction book than actual occurrences! This incident is one of them.
A 23-year-old girl from Jaipur has been arrested for planning to kill her own mother with the help of hired killers who were paid ₹7 lacs for a murder plot. Yes, you heard it right. There’s no love long lost here.
As per the police, the motive behind murder was not only the property, but the girl’s plan to secure a job in the government service through Rajasthan government scheme.
Here’s all we know about the case so far.
Who was the victim?
The victim is known to be Neeraj Sharma, a 45-year-old woman working as a Lower Division Clerk (LDC) in a court in Jaipur. She was a widow and had got the government job through a compassionate appointment scheme after her husband’s death about a year ago.
On July 3, Neeraj was going home on her scooter when a car hit her. Initially, it seemed like a case of accident but investigators found inconsistencies in the case that let them change direction of investigation completely.
How did an accident lead to murder discussions?
According to Jaipur police, the CCTV video was the main factor in the case.
Investigators went through the footage from the area and noticed some strange activity of a Scorpio SUV before the accident. The vehicle’s moves did not seem to look like an accident, and its movements suggested that Neeraj may have been targeted.
The police analyzed other digital evidence, telephone call records, witness testimonies and vehicle movement data. When more information was gathered, the investigators began to consider the case as a murder disguised as an accident.
Motives that could have triggered the murder
As per police, Neeraj’s daughter Ayushi Sharma was to blame for the crime for two reasons.
The first motive was the possibility of getting a government job in accordance with the policy in force in Rajasthan. Being still in the public service, Neeraj’s daughter thought that her mother’s death would make her eligible for such a job.
Another reason was to inherit her mother’s wealth and property.
Officials further alleged that Ayushi accused her mother of choosing government service at a time of distress after the death of her father.
The investigators say that murder was not a spontaneous act and was premeditated.
The police allege that Ayushi got in touch with people who were employed for killing. The masterminds allegedly got ₹7 lakh for the work. Investigators believe they tracked when she left work, the route she usually took and the timing of her commute so they could stage what looked like a normal traffic accident.
On the day of the incident, police say the Scorpio SUV deliberately rammed into Neeraj’s scooter, making the collision appear accidental.
The police investigation is currently aimed at discovering if any payment was made to the killers; they are trying to track the financial dealings entailed in the conspiracy.
Several individuals were apprehended in connection with the investigation. As per the reports, the police have apprehended Ayushi Sharma and six other suspects in the case.
So the total number of people arrested in the case now is seven. It is alleged that one of the paternal uncles of Ayushi has also been arrested.
According to officials, one of the arrested men is still absconding and search for the person is being conducted. The authorities are currently analyzing mobile phone logs, financial transactions, video footage and other information from the accused to understand their roles in the crime.
“Why did you kill her..” Daughter Shows zero guilt in trending video
A trending video has created tensions on social media.
According to reports, after a clip of Ayushi being escorted by the police went viral, it started to gain attention. In the video Ayaushi is not willing to answer questions about whether she murdered her own mother.
Investigators are still needed to clarify multiple details of the case since the investigation is on-going.
Investigators have not revealed yet how the alleged ₹7 lakh payment was made, whether any advance amount was paid, and if they managed to recover any digital conversations directly connected to the murder scheme.
Forensic reports and police documents regarding the present case are still awaited and are expected to shed light on the conspiracy.
As of now, the remaining is just an investigation carried out by the police. The guilty or the innocent will be determined by the court during the trial.
If the story is proven in court, the case will take its place among the most horrific murders in the history of contract killings due to its family nature and the issues connected to inheritance and position.
