While Ishan Khattar, Shahid Kapoor’s younger brother, has already been signed for the film, there have been speculations galore regarding the female lead of the movie. When pictures of Deepika Padukone auditioning for the filmmaker first came out, everyone was excited to know if this would be her next big film.  There were also reports stating that Kangana Ranaut had auditioned for the film too. 

However, it is Malayalam actress, Malavika Mohanan who’s beaten both Deepika and Kangana to bag the lead role in the film that’s about a brother-sister relationship.

Malavika made her film debut in 2013 with the Malayalam film, Pattam Pole, opposite Dulquer Salmaan.

Malavika is fairly new in the film business. So far, she has done only 2 films in Malayalam and one film in Kannada.

Not many would know but Malavika is the daughter of renowned cinematographer, K. U. Mohanan who most recently shot the SRK-starrer, Raees.

Malavika has done various commercials including this one with Akshay Kumar.

She has also appeared in this ad for the apparel brand, Max.

And this commercial for Mathrubhumi Yatra travel magazine.

Malavaika’s pleasing personality and her charming looks have already made her a huge celebrity in Malayalam cinema and with an international film in her filmography, she is certainly expanding her horizon.
