Here’s What The Cast Of The Big Bang Theory Was Up To Before Their Explosion Into Fame

It has been 9 years since the first episode of The Big Bang Theory appeared on TV. And well, no surprises here, it has been everybody’s favourite since then. But have you ever wondered where in the galaxy Sheldon, Raj, Penny and all of the characters were before the show became a meteoric success? I mean, what were they doing before they were not holding their Emmys and Golden Globes?

Here’s what the geeky gang was up to before The Big Bang Theory happened:

1. Jim Parsons as Sheldon Cooper

Jim Parsons worked as an Off-broadway theatre artist.

Before Jim Parsons became Sheldon Cooper, he worked as an Off-broadway theatre artist while appearing in several TV commercials. He did minor roles in shows like Judging Amy and Ed and not to forget, in Zach Braff’s movie Garden State.

2. Simon Helberg as Howard Wolowitz

Simon Helberg performed with comedian Derek Waters in the sketch comedy Derek and Simon.

A graduate from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, Simon Helberg performed with comedian Derek Waters in the sketch comedy Derek and Simon before The Big Bang Theory happened. He did a lot of minor roles in a lot of big movies, like Van Wilder, Old School, and Hilary Duff’s A Cinderella Story, among others.

3. Johnny Galecki as Leonard Hofstadter

Johnny Galecki acted in several movies and TV shows, his most famous charatcer being David Healy in Roseanne.

After his acting debut in the movie Murder Ordained (1987), Johnny Galecki went on to do various movies and sitcoms. One of his best known roles is that of David Healy in Roseanne. His other shows include ER, Twins, and Welcome to New York.

4. Kaley Cuoco Sweeting as Penny

Kaley Cuoco Sweeting played tennis before she moved into acting.

Sweeting’s acting journey started with the feature film Virtuosity (1995) where she played the role of young Karin Carter. She was seen in sitcoms like Ladies Man and movies including Alley Cats Strike and Growing Up Brady before TBBT happened.

5.Kunal Nayyar as Raj Koothrappali

Kunal Nayyar worked as a theatre artist and appeared in the 2004 movie S.C.I.E.N.C.E.

Nayyar performed and wrote several plays before joining the cast as Raj. He was also seen in a minor role in the 2004 movie S.C.I.E.N.C.E. as the pizza man and as a terrorist in one of the episodes of NCIS.

6. Mayim Bialik as Amy Farrah Fowler

Mayim Bialik acted in the 90s TV series Blossom.

A child artist in movies like Beaches and Pumpkinhead, Mayim Bialik was best known for playing Blossom Russo on TV series, Blossom.

7. Melissa Rauch as Bernadette Rostenkowski

Melissa Rauch worked as an stand-up comedian in New York city.

Rauch had a recurring role in TBBT before she was promoted to be a regular on the show. Way before that, while she was still in college, Rauch used to do stand-up comedy. Her comedy show, The Miss Education of Jenna Bush played to sold out audiences and garnered critical acclaim.

8. Kevin Sussman as Stuart Bloom

Kevin Sussman did minor roles in movies like Wet Hot American Summer, Pipe Dream, Hitch, and Sweet Home Alabama.

Remember Walter from Ugly Betty? Well, Sussman is the one who played the role. Years before he became the irritating comic book store owner in TBBT, he was seen in movies like Wet Hot American Summer, Pipe Dream, Hitch, and Sweet Home Alabama, among others.

9. Sara Gilbert as Leslie Winkle

Sara Gilbert played the role of Darlene Conner in Roseanne.

Sara Gilbert got into acting at the age of six and at the age of 13 she was playing the role of Darlene Conner in Roseanne. She has also appeared on The Simpsons, 24, Will & Grace, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, ER and Private Practice, among other TV shows..
