It’s that time of the year again! Championships will change hands, careers will take off, legends will return and the thousands in attendance & millions watching at home will again witness the most historic wrestling spectacle of the year: WrestleMania!
This year is the 32nd installment of the annual event. The WWE Universe surely looks pumped up with legends like The Rock set to return and matches of epic proportions like Triple H vs Roman Reigns and The Undertaker vs Shane McMahon. To get you going for the grandest event of them all, here are 31 photos that perfectly sum up each of the 31 WrestleManias before this:
1. The 1st WrestleMania saw Hulk Hogan team up with A-Team’s Mr T and they defeated Rowdy Piper & Paul Orndorff.
2. Hogan was the star attraction for countless years. He defeated King Kong Bundy in a cage match at WrestleMania 2.
3. WrestleMania 3 was a defining moment in Hulk Hogan’s career when he body slammed Andre The Giant.
4. The rise of the Macho Man. He defeated Ted Dibiase to win the vacant WWF heavyweight title at WrestleMania 4.
5. Macho Man Randy Savage gave his iconic elbow drop but lost the match to the immortal Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania 5.
6. The One Warrior Nation was formed at WrestleMania 6. Hulk Hogan embraced Ultimate Warrior after the latter beat him in one of the best fights in WrestleMania history.
7. WrestleMania 7 saw a very unusual match. Jake “The Snake” Roberts faced Rick Martel in a blind fold fight.
8. Macho Man got back to the top as he defeated Ric Flair for the WWF heavyweight title at WrestleMania 8.
9. The Undertaker defeated Giant Gonzalez at WrestleMania 9 to begin the legendary ‘streak’ that would go on for years.
10. Razor Ramon defeated Shawn Michaels for the intercontinental title at WrestleMania X in an epic ladder match.
11. Diesel retained the WWF heavyweight championship against HBK and celebrated his victory with Pamela Anderson.
12. The two of the biggest stars of their time, Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart, face off in a 60 minute iron man match at WrestleMania 12. Michaels won 1-0 in over time.
13. The present met the future. WrestleMania 13 saw new star Stone Cold Steve Austin face the veteran Bret Hart. Austin lost the match but won the crowd.
14. With Mike Tyson as the special enforcer, Stone Cold beat HBK and won the world title for the first time. The 3:16 era had begun!
15. He went on to defeat the Rock at WrestleMania 15, with a huge stunner.
16. The Game had begun. Triple H defeated The Rock, Mick Foley and the Big Show to retain his title at WrestleMania 16.
17. The biggest heel turn in history. Stone Cold made a deal with the devil himself, Mr McMahon, and defeated The Rock in his home state of Texas at WrestleMania 17.
18. The photo that best defines a match for the ages. The Rock vs Hulk Hogan share mutual respect after their bout at WrestleMania 18. The Rock came out the winner.
19. The pain had arrived! Brock Lesnar defeated Kurt Angle to become the world champion at WrestleMania 19.
20. Two beasts collided as Goldberg defeated Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 20. Stone Cold was the special referee and like he does so often, he stunned both of them.
21. The animal broke away from the herd at WrestleMania 21. Batista defeated his former Evolution leader, Triple H, and became the world champion.
22. Two men who battled the extreme. WrestleMania 22 saw Edge and Mick Foley in a hardcore match, with Edge spearing Foley through a flaming table.
23. Donald Trump’s wrestler defeated Vince McMahon’s at WrestleMania 23. Stone Cold was the referee and the stipulation was loser to go bald. You can see Trump ready with the shaver there!
24. The kick that ended a long career. Shawn Michael’s sweet chin music knocked Flair out of the match at WrestleMania 24 and eventually the business. Their careers were on the line.
25. John Cena picked up the Big Show and Edge together in a magnificent feat of strength and won the title back at WrestleMania 25.
26. Bret Hart got revenge for the Montreal Screwjob after 13 years when he defeated Vince McMahon at WrestleMania 26.
27. The Rated-R Superstar, Edge, retained the heavyweight title by defeating Alberto Del Rio at WrestleMania 27.
28. An iconic image! The Undertaker defeated Triple H with HBK as the special referee. The 3 legends walked out of WrestleMania 28 with their heads held high.
29. John Cena got payback for the his previous WrestleMania loss after he defeated the Rock to win the title in the 29th installment of the event.
30. The beast ends the streak at WrestleMania 30. Undertaker lost his first match in 22 WrestleMania matches.
31. Seth Rollins cashed in the Money in the Bank and went on to beat Brock Lesnar & Roman Reigns to become the WWE heavyweight champion at WrestleMania 31.
