Referring to the alleged mass molestation of women on New Year’s eve in Bengaluru, Karnataka’s Home Minister G Parameshwara has shocked everyone claiming “such incidents do happen on New Year day and on Christmas”.
As if that wasn’t enough, Samajwadi Party MLA Abu Azmi has now gone a step further and launched a volley of sexist remarks blaming women for what happened to them.
Aaj modern zamane mein jitni aurat nangi nazar aati hai utna usey fashionable kaha jata hai: Abu Azmi, SP pic.twitter.com/0SGVxLQ3we

In a statement to India Today, Azmi went on a full rant saying, ”It was bound to happen. Women call nudity fashion. They were wearing short dresses. Women should follow Indian culture and should not step out at night.”

Adding further he said, women should step out with their family members at night and not be alone. He said, “I have five daughters and I will not allow them to walk out at night without family members”.

He then dished out a bizarre analogy!
Agar kahin petrol hoga aur aag aaegi to aag lagegi hi. Shakkar giri hogi to cheeti wahan zarur aaegi: Abu Azmi on his earlier statement pic.twitter.com/3xbXhDo99e

Outraged at these comments, the chief of the National Commission for Women (NCW), Lalitha Kumaramangalam, has issued summons to both Azmi and Karnataka Home Minister.

The minister’s regressive comments obviously drew a lot of flak on social media with citizens criticising him
Waiting for the day when #AbuAzmi justifies child rape by saying ” Itna revealing diaper pehna tha toh ye hoga hi”

Abu Azmi says to avoid rape, women shudn’t go out alone like in Saudi. Instead of making India Saudi, better Abu goes off 2 Saudi. No loss.

Sickening comments by Karnataka’s Home Minister and Samajwadi Party’s Abu Azmi. Bina aukaat aur dimaag ke culture ke rakhwaale.

Idiot Abu Azmi wants girls to stay home, only go out with their brothers, dress ‘decently’. If SP was power we’d be Islamic State of India
