Diwali is the festival of lights, Ram’s homecoming, a season for gifts, mithais, patakas and the works. But, let’s not forget, it’s also Kali Puja.
More than a religious event, I look at it as a celebration of the fierce goddess that resides in every woman. Kali is a bold icon for women all over the world. At times, when we feel weakened, and wronged, she’s a reminder of the strength that lies deep within each of us; a reminder that we have the choice to say no. A reminder to be unapologetically woman.
So let’s all be Kali.
No matter what the world wants us to believe, let’s never forget that we are goddesses.
