40 degrees seems to be the new normal when it comes to the temperatures in Delhi. 

But, while Delhiites are finding it increasingly difficult to bear the heat (what has this past week been, hell?), there are other places in India that are way hotter.

These 10 definitely make the list.

1. Phalodi, Rajasthan

Current temperature: 42 degrees celsius

Highest temperature: 51 degrees celsius in 2016

This town in the Jodhpur district of Rajasthan is known to be the hottest in the country. Back in 2016, it recorded the highest ever temperatures in India – 51 degrees celsius. The city virtually receives no rainfall at all.

2. Chandrapur, Maharashtra

Current temperature: 38 degrees celsius

Highest temperature: 46.3 degrees celsius in 2018

5. Jaisalmer, Rajasthan

Jaisalmer, being an arid desert region, is prone to extremes in terms of temperature. A border outpost in Jaisalmer registered a sizzling 52.4 degrees in 2016. The maximum average summer temperature is around 49 degrees celsius.

Highest temperature: 50.2 degrees celsius in 2016

7. Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh

Current temperature: 41 degrees celsius

Highest temperature: 48.6 degrees celsius in 2018

Summers in the famed tourist destination of Khajuraho can get extremely hot, with temperatures rising up to 47 degrees celsius. In May 2018, it recorded the highest temperatures in the country at 47.5 degrees celsius.
