If your sanity was still intact after the 5-setter between Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic last night, you must have noticed the latter plucking and eating some grass from the Court. He seemed to be enjoying it, too.

Now it was strange to see him do that but we had seen stranger things in the match, so we let it go.

A journalist, however, asked Djokovic the reason behind this and he said:

It’s a little tradition obviously. As a kid I was dreaming of winning Wimbledon, so, like every child, you dream of doing something crazy when you actually achieve it – if you achieve it – and that was one of the things.

So, it is a tradition he follows and did this after his 2011, 2014, 2015 and 2018 victories, as well.

Well, as long as it is working for him, we can ignore the fact that the grass was dirty. It’s too small a price to pay for such big victories.
