Experienced opener Gautam Gambhir today returned to India’s Test squad after two years in place of injured Lokesh Rahul for the last two matches of the Test series against New Zealand.
Rahul was ruled out of the remainder of the Test series due to a right hamstring injury, paving the way for a long-awaited comeback.
Gambhir has been going strong in domestic cricket, and it is a well deserved selection, one which has come off patience and perseverance.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to the news, including Gambhir himself:
Excitement of a debutant, certainty of experienced, nervousness of a novice…am feeling it all. Eden here I come loaded with ambitions.

Very interesting to see who makes the playing eleven. Normally, the incumbent reserve gets preference but Gambhir has runs behind him
