If you’re a Chennai Super Kings fan, then Mahendra Singh Dhoni is your Thalaiva!
And in what is surely good news for you, the Chennai-based outfit are all set to retain their former skipper ahead of the upcoming season.
After CSK’s suspension for 2 years in 2016, Dhoni had been signed by Rising Pune Supergiant.
Each IPL franchise is allowed to retain 3 members of their team and CSK will be holding on to Dhoni and Suresh Raina.
The third player could be one of either Ravindra Jadeja or Ravichandran Ashwin, with the former’s inclusion looking likely.
Over the years, Raina has been a standout performer for CSK and is the IPL’s all-time highest run-getter but in recent seasons, his abilities as a match-winner have waned.
Dhoni’s inclusion however was never in doubt considering his impact on and off the field and his immense popularity in Chennai.
Dhoni has led CSK to 2 IPL titles and 2 Champions Trophy titles.
If CSK retain the three cricketers, ₹33 crore will be deducted from their total purse of ₹80 crore for the IPL season 11 auction.
