An India-Pakistan game of cricket holds the attention of people in this country like no other sporting event.
And given that both teams do not play bilateral games against each other, a match at the World Cup was bound to get a record number of viewers.
And even though the match was a rain-affected one, it recorded 229 million viewers in India, tuning in to watch the live match coverage on Star Network and Doordarshan.
Even without the viewership DD garnered, Star India, one of the official broadcasters of the ICC World Cup 2019, recorded a viewership of 206 million for the match.
According to BARC India data, 60% of all World Cup viewers turned up to watch the India-Pakistan match. And to put that into perspective, 45% of all viewership of India’s WC matches came from the India-Pakistan match.
Damn it. Those are some really big numbers!
