19-year-old Shubman broke the record that was previously held by Gautam Gambhir, who had scored 218 for India Board President’s XI against Zimbabwe in 2002, when he was 20 years old.
Many people took to Twitter to talk about how Gill – who wasn’t selected for the senior touring parties for the series in West Indies – deserved more chances:

Shubham Gill should get a chance against SA in tests. If KL Rahul fails against WI then Gill should get a chance at opening position with Agrawal vs SA. Gill is consistent for past 2/3 years but got just 3 chances…!!! #ShubhamGill #WIvIND #INDvSA

The right-handed player helped set up a 373-run target, and in fact, has been in an exceptional form throughout team ‘A’ innings.
