India has been fortunate to be the birthplace of some of the most legendary Urdu poets that the world has known. One of them is the late Majrooh Sultanpuri. A hugely respected figure among writers, he wrote some of the most iconic songs for Hindi films that are still considered evergreen. 

A recipient of the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award for lifetime achievement in 1993, Majrooh Sultanpuri’s shayaris and ghazals are very much alive in the hearts of his admirers.
