Stand-up comedian Kapil Sharma made headlines on Friday morning after accusing a BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) official of demanding a bribe of Rs 5 lakh. He also tweeted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi asking whether this was defined as ‘acche din‘.
Even Maharashtra Chief Minister acknowledged the matter and assured Sharma to take appropriate action against the culprit.
And expectedly, Twitterati had a lot to say:
I’m going to predict that Kapil Sharma has officially launched his political career & will join @sherryontopp https://t.co/wx6YNO0v3T

Shouldn’t @KapilSharmaK9 have complained before paying BMC the bribe. Paying a bribe by itself is an offence.

15 crore tax per year means Kapil makes around 50-60 crores each year. Thats 5 crore every month. Whoaaa…. https://t.co/mtdFYyzZXw

As I’ve said earlier, the day isn’t far when people will tag @narendramodi even for plumbing flaws though agree with @KapilSharmaK9 ‘s issue

“मोदी को कुछ बुरा बोलो, पब्लिसिटी और दूसरी पार्टी का सपोर्ट फोकट मैं मिल जाएगा” #KapilSharma took this very seriously..😁

Kapil sharma wants acche din for illegal construction…
hahaha funniest joke he ever made!— Sharvi Sparkle (@SharviSparkle) September 9, 2016
Many supported the comedian, applauding his move
Why would you target Kapil Sharma for highlighting an age old problem? Imagine how tough it is for the rest. A good thing to have spoken out

Don’t troll Kapil Sharma. He raised a valid concern & CM promised action. This is good. Compare this with UP & Bihar where no one reacts.

BJP must ensure that not just Kapil Sharma but every1 gets relief from #CorruptBMC
Hope it’s not a PR gig for Modi https://t.co/5qYHGnCPNX— Shehzad Poonawalla (@Shehzad_Ind) September 9, 2016
Glad that #KapilSharma voiced this publicly. HIs real intention is doubted. Still, if influential people talk, there is hope Vs #corruption
