What is it like to swim between the continental plates of Europe and Asia? Well you can find out if you go diving in the pristine waters of Silfra in Iceland, and there’s now an video that explains just how awesome this location is.

The video has been uploaded by Hashem Al-Ghaili, who says he aims to make science easier for people to understand, and it shows just how easy it is to swim between the two continental plates if you know how to snorkel or dive.

While there are apparently other places in the world where such dives are possible, the unique part about Silfra is the visibility in the water is about 100 metres thanks to which you can see the magnificent site far more clearly. The reason for such clear water? That’s because the water is filtered through porous underground lava.
