According to reports, on Sunday night, many passengers were seen sleeping on the floor near the airport’s departure with their footwear scattered everywhere.
Goa Forward Party’s vice- president Durgadas Kamat has hit the news. Reportedly, he tweeted a picture of Goa airport and dissed the people resting outside the airport calling them ‘cheap tourists.’
Scene @aaigoaairport .Do we need such cheap tourist in Goa ? @aaigoaairport should act on this . We don’t need scum like these to visit Goa. We need quality tourist ,who will come ,spend & enjoy Goa & its beauty . #BrandGoa cannot be compromised at any cost. pic.twitter.com/tCvE1sbizw

His tweet outraged a series of netizens who didn’t take his dissing very well and retaliated in defense.
Might be due flight cancellation or delay .. don’t judge so quickly

Pathetic public facilities, one of the worst airport of India, taxi mafia that doesn’t let Uber and Ola function, progressively ruined nightlife thanks to the restrictive rules, and on top of that such attitude of Goans.

Visit Goa? No thanks. Pattaya is more economical.
Gosh, you know what?
— Shruti Chaturvedi (@adhicutting) July 9, 2019
Sorry on behalf of these people for compromising your hashtag #BrandGoa.
How long before you understand that these are real human beings and to call them ‘cheap’, ‘scum’ and ‘not quality’ is extreme classism??
EVERYONE DESERVES TO ENJOY GOA.
Instead of finding the reason why ppl have been lying around and forced to sleep on floor, you call them” scum and cheap”.what kind of upbringing you have..And you are the elected representative of some so called forward party.

You tweet make you look like someone from Goa Backward Party!
— Richa 🇮🇳 (@richa_2009_j) July 9, 2019
You devalued your own point by degrading the tourists visiting Goa. Poor or Rich you just can't discriminate.
Plus provide better transport system as Goa lacks it big time.
@PMOIndia @tourismgoi Find the reason before commenting. The language used is of arrogance and uncultured. Is goa not part of india? Constitution grants freedom to travel anywhere. They can afford flights are they scum. Where is atithi devo bhavo? Shame on you. Respect all
— sudesh sawant (@sudyasawant) July 9, 2019
Mind ur language S”poke person. What do u mean by cheap tourist. अतिथि देवो भवो taught in rest of the India. #brandGoa is made by tourist not by you. if u can’t solve the issue at least don’t create one. Love from आमची मुंबई, जय महाराष्ट्र

How about issues where taxi is super costly at night n will cost 2k to come from calangute and Airport not letting in people at 12.00 having flight at https://t.co/ZRulWKunru.. we all know public transport In Goa is pathetic.. (1/2)
— Nikita Rege (@NikitaRege) July 8, 2019
Goa airport is one of the most pathetic airports in India.. Facilities are lease than Bus stands of few cities.. You should be talking about improving the facilities at airport.

Calling the tourists cheap shows your upbringing
..
Pls stop insulting people of India, your economy runs on tourists. Build quality infrastructure instead.
— अंशुमान 🇮🇳 (@India_1st) July 11, 2019
I thought this represents poor infrastructure and facility at goa airport. Sleeping on floor doesn’t signify poor or scum.
— RBS (@RBS64286550) July 9, 2019
Why not make some restrooms for people who have ticket for next day then. It is absolute rubbish that people can’t afford hotels. Either they are not flying passengers which incase is another problem or some flights must have experienced delay which explains apathy of Goa airport
— Sanely (@SanelyInsane2) July 10, 2019
While Kamat’s tweet stirred a ruckus on his Twitter thread, a person in charge of the airport infrastructure retaliated promising that certain instances won’t repeat.
We share your concern. This is one of kind incident and noted with due concern. The instructions to concerned have been issued to be more watchful and ensure no repeat.
