Here is all you need to know about India’s rising tennis star:
After a successful season at the ATP Challenger Tour in both doubles and singles, India’s tennis ace Saketh Myneni has now climbed up to the No.2 in singles in India.
1. The right-handed player who graduated from the University of Alabama made his Davis Cup debut in 2010 where he partnered with Rohan Bopanna in the doubles.
2. He represents Pune Marathas in Vijay Amritraj’s Champions Tennis League (CTL). In season 1 he partnered with former Wimbledon champions Pat Cash, Marcos Baghdatis and Agnieszka Radwańska which helped the team to win the title.
3. He won Gold & Silver medals at Incheon Asian Games 2014 in Mixed doubles and Men’s doubles, where he partnered with Sania Mirza to capture the Gold, and won the Silver alongside Sanam Singh.
4. His performance at the ATP Challenger Tour in May this year has been his career best as it helped him jump 30 spots in the rankings.
5. The 27-year-old is currently ranked 168 in the world ATP rankings.
