For Sandeep Tukkunor, the son of a daily wage labourer who cracked the entrance exam for the Indian Institute of Technology exam had a major problem: he didn’t have the funds to get admission.
But thanks to contributions from people who contributed funds, he has now joined IIT-Madras in Chennai.
Tukkunor, who secured an impressive All-India rank of 699, was finding it difficult to collect funds for his tuition fees. But after his story came to light, people from different walks of life came forward to contribute more than Rs 1 lakh for him, reports The Times of India.
His father Hanumanthappa Ghogga works as a well-digger in Bidar district, Karnataka while his mother is a daily wage labourer. His two younger brothers and a younger sister are studying in school.
