The BJP government went on the offensive against the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa. And the man doing the needful was Power Minister Piyush Goyal.
At a public meeting in Delhi on Saturday, Goyal slammed Jayalalithaa for being inaccessible. He further added how he was unable to meet the Chief Minister or the state ministers during the last 22 months of his tenure.
Here’s how Piyush Goyal took down the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister:
AIADMK led by Jayalalithaa hit back at Goyal terming it as “baseless allegations” and charged him with trying to seek “political mileage” in poll-bound Tamil Nadu.
In a detailed rebuttal, Party Treasurer and Finance Minister O Panneerselvam said, “There is no iota of truth in these allegations which are baseless, and made for political mileage.”
On the other hand, DMK President M Karunanidhi sought an explanation from his arch rival over Goyal’s remarks.
“When a Union Power Minister (Piyush Goyal) himself has said in a public function that he had not got opportunities to discuss either with Chief Minister or with a Minister on power reforms, I seek an explanation from the AIADMK government for his (Union Minister’s) comments,” Karunanidhi said in a statement.
Hitting out at the AIADMK government, he said “there will not be any other suitable example than the comments made by a Union Minister on the relationship of the State government with the Centre”.
