The Municipal Commissioners of all three corporations failed to show up and the key meet on pollution stood cancelled after top officers, including the secretary and joint secretary did not attend it.
Reports suggest that the Union Environment Minister, Prakash Javadekar has assured that he will look into the matter.

The officials were supposed to meet after the air quality in the NCR and its adjoining areas plunged to the ‘severe’ category.
As Delhi continues to gasp for fresh air, this kind of negligence by the authorities is not acceptable to the people. Many of them took to Twitter to express their anger.
Such is the level of seriousness around pollution among policymakers that the Urban Development Parliamentary committee meeting this morning on pollution had to be cancelled because MCD, DDA, Environment ministry officials didn’t even bother to show up. Only 4 MPs came. Shameful.

Chairman of Parliament committee on pollution must summon the officials absent from the meeting and charge them with contempt and breach of privileges https://t.co/pc1vkSnJ6E

So most of our elected reps didnt turn up for a parliamentary meeting on air pollution, while Delhi/NCR struggles to breathe. Perfect reason why right to recall should be an option available to voters.

Hussain Masoodi, CR Patil, Jagdambika Pal and Sanjay Singh were the four MPs who showed up for the Urban Development Parliamentary Affairs meeting on pollution. So, honourable MP of Delhi Gautam Gambhir has all the time to do commentary and enjoy in Indore but no time to attend the meeting of Parliamentary Standing Committee of Urban Development over severe air pollution in Delhi.

At a time when it is becoming difficult for Delhiites to survive, this kind of irresponsible behaviour from people’s representatives is not only unacceptable but also infuriating.
