Pakistan’s teenage Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai has expressed concern over the ongoing violence in Kashmir and urged the UN, India and Pakistan to work together to end the “inhumanity and heartbreak” in the Valley.
“The Kashmiri people, like people everywhere, deserve their fundamental human rights. They should live free from fear and repression. I call on the United Nations, the international community and India and Pakistan to work together with utmost urgency to right these wrongs, providing the people of Kashmir with the dignity, respect and freedom they deserve,” she told Dawn.
Condeming the rampant use of pellet guns, the 19-year-old activist also talked about the disastrous effect that continuing curfew has had on students and their education in the region.
Expressing solidarity, she added, “I stand with the people of Kashmir,” she said. “My 14 million Kashmiri sisters and brothers have always been close to my heart.”
However, not everyone was happy with what she said and many of them expressed their disappointment on Twitter:
#RequestToMalala @Malala Request you to please stay peaceful and stay happy and not say things that don’t fit into ur vocab pls.

True that Malala has suffered beyond our imagination and came out of it bravely. But that doesn’t make her an expert in everything.

Hypocrite Malala speaking on Kashmir is simply asking for her own security from the same terrorist who shot her and terrorize in Kashmir.
