In a good news for Indians around the world, UNESCO has recognized Kumbh Mela as an ‘Intangible cultural heritage’.
It was also described as the ‘Largest peaceful congregation of pilgrims on earth’.

The decision was taken by UNESCO’s Inter-Governmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
The Kumbh Mela is held every three years in Haridwar, Prayag, Ujjain, and Nasik. The mela returns to each of these cities after a span of 12 years.
