Putting an end to decades long speculations about Netaji’s many identities and whereabouts, the government came to this conclusion after considering the reports of Shah Nawaz Committee, Justice J.D Khosla Commission and Justice Mukherjee Commission.

“After considering the reports of Shah Nawaz Committee, Justice G D Khosla Commission and Justice Mukherjee Commission of Enquiry, the government has come to the conclusion that Netaji died in the plane crash on 18.08.1945,” the Ministry of Home Affairs stated.

The RTI applicant, Sayak Sen, however is not very pleased with the response and has raised questions over government’s claim.

“Mukherjee Commission has categorically stated that Netaji did not die in the air crash. In fact the crash never took place. The government is ducking the question because they are simply not willing to take up the issue up,” he told ScoopWhoop News.

When asked about MHA’s response to his concerns he said that the MHA has not yet verbally clarified anything. It is only through their reply to RTI that a conclusion can be drawn, however, MHA has quoted the commission wrong.

In his RTI request Sayak sought information about a Gumnamibaba who lived incognito in Uttar Pradesh till 1985 and his links to Netaji. Besides, his RTI request enquired about Netaji’s whereabouts post August 18, 1945 and the number of files declassified by the Ministry.
