The company has written to the Indian government with a letter of intent to build the line, reported the Times of India. 

But it could face some problems…

The biggest problem the project will face is the cost of the ticket. Railway officials pointed out that a ticket on the line could cost as much as Rs 6,000 and it could prevent the government from giving the go-ahead for it, says the Times of India report.

Another problem railway officials foresaw was that the terrain between the two cities might not be suitable for the transportation system that requires straight paths with minimal curves.

What is Hyperloop?

Hyperloop One, a US-based company is developing superfast transportation using pod-like vehicles through vacuum tubes at a speed far higher than even airlines. 

The concept is a brainchild of Elon Musk, also credited for SpaceX and Tesla Motors. The capsule is estimated to travel at a speed of more than 1200 km/h inside the vacuum tube and hopes to transport people for the price of a bus ticket. In fact, they will be charged for the time taken for the journey and not the transport.

 According to Trak, Hyperloop One is interested in developing lines in India between:

• Chennai-Mumbai, 
• Bengaluru-Thiruvananthapuram
• Mumbai-Delhi 

Hyperloop plans to install prefabricated tubes on pillars. Solar panels on the top of tubes and windmills to generate power are expected to further reduce operational cost.

The first Hyperloop is expected to be built between Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the next five years. It will cut down the travel time from 90 minutes to 12 minutes.
