After serious discussions and announcements after talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Bangladeshi counterpart Sheikh Hasina on Saturday, there was a moment that made everyone in the room burst into peals of laughter.
At a joint briefing following a bilateral meeting during which the two leaders agreed on 22 MOUs, an official managing the conference asked them to step off the elevated podium.
“May I request the two Prime Ministers to now please step down.” he said.

As they got off the podium, PM Modi started smiling and asked ‘stepping down?’ causing everyone present on the occasion burst into laughter. PM Modi and Hasina too had a great laugh about the gaffe.
Hasina is on a four-day visit to India, which comes after a gap of over seven years.
PM Modi and Hasina Saturday inked nearly two dozen pacts in strategic areas of defence and civil nuclear cooperation and held extensive discussions to strengthen bilateral ties in key strategic areas including security, trade and energy.
After their restricted meeting at the Hyderabad House in Delhi, the two leaders were joined by their respective delegations.
Hasina, who arrived in India on Friday, will visit Ajmer on Sunday and will also meet Indian business leaders on Monday.
