After the deadly Uri attack that left 17 soldiers martyred, the Indian Army, after a probe into the attack, has said that all the four slain terrorists were foreigners and belonged to Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed outfit.
The Director General Military Operations (DGMO), Lt. Gen. Ranbir Singh, in a media briefing told reporters that the army had recovered some articles with “Pakistan markings” from the slain terrorists.
Singh said that the terrorists were heavily armed and the Army was able to recover four AK-47 rifles, four under-barrel grenade launchers and some other ammunition from them.
He also explained how a group of heavily armed terrorists opened fire on an administrative base of one of the units of the Indian Army at Uri in Kashmir at about 5.30 am today. The firefight between the terrorists and the Army personnel continued till about 8.30 am, during which four terrorists were killed.

This is not the first time that the JeM has targeted a defence forces installation. In January this year, JeM terrorists from Pakistan had attacked the Pathankot Air Force Station.
Following the attack, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh cancelled his US-Russia trip and held a high-level meeting in the afternoon. Defence minister Manohar Parrikar also reached Srinagar to take stock of the situation.
