A chunk of Indian population has started to speak up against gender inequality that is deeply rooted in the Indian society. A few voices have now become a million voices and finally, we are able to stir things up a bit. But this is not going to be an easy fight when people around us are still ignorant about different genders and how each is as equal as the other. It’s sad to see that ours is still a patriarchal society and other sexes always come secondary to the male sex.

Gender bias is all around us. You see it when you come across a 15-year old girl being married off to an old man when you see gay people considered “queer” by “normal” folks, when a girl is blamed for getting molested, when you fill up your gender in any form which only specifies two sexes. Given below is a list of a few things that you hear from time to time which prove that we still have a long way to go before we become a truly gender-tolerant India.
