96-year-old Karthyayani Amma from Kerala has already set an example with her passion and undying spirit.
She has now been selected as the Commonwealth of Learning Goodwill Ambassador, according to a report by Mathrubhumi.
The Commonwealth of Learning is an intergovernmental organisation of The Commonwealth headquartered in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It aims to promote distance education and open learning among its 53 member nations.
Commonwealth of Learning Vice President, Balasubramanian visited Karthyayani Amma after she topped Aksharalaksham literacy examination conducted by Kerala State Literacy Mission.
Her story will now be featured in the journals published by Commonwealth of Learning across the world.
Last year, she became the oldest person ever to top Kerala’s Literacy exam. The 96-year-old has never attended school and also worked as a domestic help to raise her children.
She has made us proud globally.
