There was a time when the glimmering, light-reflecting scalps of bald men were the subject of pity and parody. However, things have taken for the better turn as multiple studies have found that bald men are leading the way in the laws of attraction.
The first study was published in Social Psychology and Personality Science. Barry University’s professor, Dr. Frank Muscarella, who headed the study asked participants to rate men on their perceived honesty, intelligence, and social status.
He found that while baldness decreased men’s perceived physical attractiveness, it raised their overall status.
Case in point – Dwayne Johnson.
Jason Statham.
And even Bruce Willis.
Talking to the Daily Mail, Muscarella said,
I speculated that male pattern baldness evolved as an appeasement signal and signalled benign, non-threatening dominance. There is a large body of literature that shows that although women like physically attractive men, they are also very attracted to signs of high social dominance.
His findings have been backed by another study from a team of researchers at the University of Pennsylvania which found that bald men are often seen as more dominant and successful. Even more, the study found that bald men fare better economically in negotiations.
