Living the millennial life is hard, and if you think the other way around… You’re probably lying to yourself. I’ve cancelled my gym subscription thrice and trust me, it’s high time I should change my lifestyle to maintain my chiselled abs, I mean, my non-existent abs of steel that are waiting to pop out of my body. Well, your boy did some research and found out these healthy ways to get started.
Is it too late now to say sorry to all my cancelled gym subscriptions?
Here’s how you can stay fit and in good shape without going to a gym. Read on.
1. Ditch the office elevator and hit the stairs!
Working out doesn’t have to mean splashing out on expensive gyms. As they say, the only gym you need is a good staircase – it’s true that stair climbing is a vigorous exercise that has more health benefits than you think and burns more calories per minute than jogging. You’d be surprised to know that you burn about 0.42 calories for every step you climb – that’s around 15 calories per three flights of stairs! Need I say more, ya aap convince hogaye?
2. Keep calm and drink water. That’s it, that’s the fitness mantra.
A well-hydrated expert said, “pure water is the world’s first and foremost medicine”; well, where’s the lie? Water is that magic potion which prevents weight gain and also boasts of anti-cancer agents. Remember the 8-glasses a day rule? Yes, water flushes your body of toxins, keeps joints flexible, and transports nutrients around the body. Replenishing your body should be just as important as happy hours on a weekend, right?
3. A skipping rope and a killer soundtrack will suffice your need to workout
If you fancy a holy grail regime that keeps you fit and fab, you do not need to sweat it out in the gym for that. Yes, you heard that right. All you need is a skipping rope to stay healthy and fit. If you think a skipping rope is only for the playground, think again – a comfortable skipping sesh for just 10 minutes can burn around 200 calories a day! Well, that’s much easier and simpler than lifting those heavy dumbbells.
4. Unplug from technology an hour before bed
Put all your gadgets away an hour before you go to bed! Using your phone at night not only irks your mom and dad but it also interferes with the production of the sleep hormone, melatonin. The blue light emitted by the LED screens also leads to insomnia and weak eyesight in the future.
5. Switch to brown rice – it’s as good as doing a 30-minute brisk walk
No time to head out and take a walk but want to be fit and healthy? No worries ’cause India Gate brown rice has got you covered! Being loaded with fibres, brown rice keeps you satiated for long hours, which in turn, stops you from binging onto unhealthy snacks. It also keeps your heart health, diabetes and immunity in check. What else can you ask for?
