For those who happen to be house-hunting and are die-hard Harry Potter fans who also possess sacks of galleons, listen up – for the Dursleys’ house with the cupboard where the Chosen One, Harry Potter, once lived, is up for sale.
Except in reality, it isn’t known as 4 Privet Drive so you won’t have the satisfaction of writing out your address on letters and encouraging people to mail you.
In Picket Post Close, Martins Heron, the house had its moment of fame when it was chosen among hundreds of houses in UK as the home where a young Harry was brought up by the vicious Uncle Vernon, Aunt Petunia along with the pudgy Dudley. Also, the very famous cupboard under the stairs which initially served as Harry’s bedroom.
However, the house was featured only once in the movies due to issues and the street was recreated in the studio for later scenes shot during the filming of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
Be prepared to burn a huge hole in your pocket if you hope to buy the house as it’s priced at a whopping £475,000 and is being marketed by the Chancellors in Bracknell. On the upside, it’s a beautiful house and was refurbished recently by its owners.
Apart from the familiar drive, the house has three spacious bedrooms, a family bathroom and a beautiful green backyard attached to a large patio.
And of course, the famous cupboard under the stairs is available for the new owners to stow a little child in (no, don’t do that).
If you’re ready to fork out half a million pounds for the magical house, but don’t want the modern contemporary look, by all means haul in the floral chintz sofa which Petunia so lovingly adorned the living room with and live in your little piece of the tale.
