At the beginning of the film, Bobby seems a lot like Arjun, a cigarette in hand and a bottle of alcohol in the other. But what follows is a surprising journey of growth, self-reflection and finding your inner purpose. Vijay’s character begins as a rowdy, aggressive do-gooder with no self control. However, in a turn of events, followed by a heartbreak, he finds his true identity in the mountains, Kabira style. If that doesn’t surprise you, nothing will!
Though the reviews of the film were mixed, the convincing portrayal of Bobby and Lilly by Vijay and Rashmika make the 2 and a half hours film worth your while. Slow at certain points, the end message of Bobby being a comrade for Lilly, after everything the two have been through, shines. Not only does Vijay play a supportive partner, but he also emphasizes on the importance of being your own person, being independent and self-sufficient. the Hindi remake rights of the film have already been aquired by Karan Johar and I fear what he might do to this simple and sweet love story.
Vijay does all this and more while looking drop-dead gorgeous. This actor has a flair for the rugged and he truly shines through in Dear Comrade, sporting three different looks in the process.
If you haven’t been following this hottie on Instagram, then you must!
