After wowing us with his intense portrayal of an army officer and a conflicted husband in Raazi, Vicky Kaushal will now be playing Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw in a biopic directed by none other than Meghna Gulzar.
The first look of the movie was released today, and Vicky definitely nails the new avatar – with deep-set grey eyes and a thick mustache.
And he does look a lot like the man whose life has inspired the story.
Meghna Gulzar, who recently finished the filming of Chhapaak (starring Deepika Padukone and Vikrant Massey), also shared the news and stated that it was an honour for her to share the story of one of India’s greatest war heroes.
A Soldier’s Soldier.

A Gentleman’s Gentleman.
In remembrance, on the death anniversary of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw.

Sam Manekshaw was an Indian military officer whose commendable actions during the 1971 war earned him the rank of field marshal. He was the first Indian Army officer to be promoted to the rank of a Field Marshal. He also held the position of India’s seventh Chief of the Army staff, and he passed away on June 27, 2008.
The film is looking at a 2021 release, and this is one movie we’re definitely looking forward to!
