Ever since Crazy Rich Asians hit the screens the one thing that everyone can agree on is that no one does luxury like the families shown in the movie. Whether it is the gorgeous wedding or the breathtaking mansions, the grandiosity on display is breathtaking.

But it’s not just the opulence of the sets, because the locations actually make for gorgeous settings. And while we may not be able to imitate the wealth for the next few hundred years, there is nothing stopping us from enjoying these beautiful locations:

1. Newton Food Centre

Singapore is actually known for its hawker centers and one of the first places that Nick takes Rachel to in Singapore is the Newton Food Centre.

Surrounded by small hawkers serving authentic local cuisines, the centers are known for seafood and satays.

2. The Changi Airport

If you believe an airport cannot be a tourist spot then you absolutely need to head over to the Changi Airport in Singapore that has a lot more to offer than just free massage chairs.

It has earned the title for being the best airport in the world, six times in a row. With a rooftop pool and jacuzzi, a jewel waterfall, Orchid gardens, movie theatres, and multiple gourmet restaurants, this airport is bound to impress you just like it impressed Rachel.

3. Marina Bay Sands

After the grand proposal, Nick organized an ever grander party for Rachel at none other than the Marina Bay Sands. One of the most iconic landmarks of Singapore, Marina Ban Sands Skypark is home to world’s highest and largest infinity pool.

Not everyone may be able to afford a stay at this gorgeous integrated resort – as a deluxe room costs $409 – but there’s nothing stopping you from enjoying a fancy dinner at one of their exclusive restaurants or visit their ArtScience museum.

4. CHIJMES

It is hard to forget the fairytale wedding of Colin and Araminta. And it was at CHIJMES, an 1852 Catholic convent converted to a heritage building, where the wedding took place.

The gothic style chapel is now used as a function hall and is also home to various restaurants, bars, and cafes. While you may not be able to recreate the Swan Lake inspired wedding, a lunch at this gorgeous location definitely sounds like an experience worth having.

5. Gardens by the Bay

If the wedding in the movie was fabulous, the reception party was no less than extraordinary. And the ceremony took place at the enchanting nature park Gardens by the Bay

The nature park consists of three waterfront gardens, two beautiful temperature controlled domes (Flower Dome and The Cloud Forest) and the man-made Supertree Groves. OCBC skywalk is an elevated walkway from where visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the Gardens

6. Raffles Singapore Hotel

The suite that is Nick and Rachel’s home for the duration of their stay in Singapore is actually a part of the Raffles Hotel in Singapore.

Although currently closed for restoration, the restaurant is all set to reopen in 2019 and is definitely worth a visit. Especially because Raffles prides itself as being ‘one of the few remaining great 19th century hotels in the world’.

7. Ann Siang Hill and Club Street

During the end of the movie, Nick’s mother Eleanor and Rachel meet at a Mahjong parlor.

The street leading up to the parlor is gorgeous in reel and real life because it is the Ann Siang Hill and Club Street – one of the coolest spots in Singapore’s Chinatown.  With its historic houses restored as fun bars, restaurants, and cafes, this is a street designed for leisure wanderings.

8. Bukit Pasoh Road

Who can forget the fun little restaurant where Rachel and Peik Lin discuss Rachel’s plan of action. Well, the street that this fun restaurant overlooks is the Bukit Pasoh Road at Chinatown Singapore.

With cozy restaurants, like the Humpback Restaurant where Rachel and Peik Lin have their discussion, or the Reading Room visible across the street, the picturesque street is ideal for the perfect brunch and the classic Instagram shot.

9. Merlion Park

Merlion – a mythical creature with a lion’s head and a fish’s body – is Singapore’s official symbol. And it is at the Merlion Park that Nick proposes to Rachel for the first time. *Sighs*.

Well, this is also the place featured in multiple panoramic shots of the city shown in the movie. With a 30-foot sculpture of the Merlion at Merlion Park’s waterfront, this is one of the most famous tourist spots in Singapore.

10. Four Seasons Resort, Langkawi, Malaysia

Even though Araminta announces that her bachelorette is at a private family island, the location shot at is actually the Four Seasons Resorts in Langkawi, Malaysia.

In fact, the small island – seemingly in the middle of nowhere – where Nick and Colin first discuss Nick’s plan for marriage is also in Langkawi.

11. Carcosa Seri Negara, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Remember the almost palatial mansion that is Nick’s grandmother’s home – the one that can house over 300 guests and is estimated at $200mn in the movie?

Source

It is actually two mansions of the former luxury hotel Carcosa Seri Negara in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia that made up parts of the beautiful mansion in the movie. Since the hotel closed in December 2015 the mansion has been designated as one of the country’s heritage building. You can still visit the property.

You may not be able to travel in the same style as the crazy, rich, Asians, but that in no way should stop you from visiting their favorite locations.
