2016 might not have been a great year for Bollywood but it certainly was a great year of Bollywood’s Bebo, Kareena Kapoor Khan.
While the highlight of the year for Kareena has certainly been the birth of her son Taimur Ali Khan Pataudi, earlier today, throughout 2016 we’ve seen the actress juggle impending-motherhood and her career with complete ease.
Kareena embraced pregnancy like no other Bollywood actress had ever done before. She didn’t let her work take a back seat and was just as enthusiastic about her work commitments as she has always been. In other words, she was truly an inspiration to all women, everywhere.
She started her year by slaying gender stereotypes in Ki & Ka.
The film might not be the best movie on the subject but Kareena convincingly played the role of a woman who does not believe in the gender stereotypes set by society.
She then went ahead to work in Udta Punjab & portrayed the role of a doctor who is battling the drug crisis in Punjab.
During the promotions of the film, she proved that she’s just like the rest of us when it comes to hunger.
Shortly after, she announced her pregnancy!
Whosoever said being pregnant meant staying at home, wasn’t clearly living in the 21st century. Because in 2016, Bebo shot for her upcoming film, Veere Di Wedding, while being pregnant.
And then, she walked the ramp at the Lakme Fashion Week Finale for designer Sabyasachi.
She was glowing on the ramp and walked with confidence, like always.
“I’m pregnant, not a corpse. And what maternity break? We are in 2016, not in the 1800s.”
She also inspired women that marriage and pregnancy have nothing to do with their careers.
Not only did she shoot for a film but she shot for various ad campaigns and magazine covers as well, showing us that pregnancy doesn’t hinder her work. Rather, it adds a glow to her personality.
And now she’s the proud mother of baby Taimur!
