Chetan Bhagat is like that kid in the class who tops all exams and still gets his butt kicked.
Today, he’s in the news because he made it to Amazon’s “Best Reads List”. Chetan, being the Twitter obsessed writer that he is, obviously shared the news on his Twitter account but he forgot that his Twitter account is the place where 80% jokes on the Internet originate from.
So this is what happened:
“Thrilled to be a part of @amazonIN’s Best Reads List for May https://t.co/toOaovgZq2”
— Chetan Bhagat (@chetan_bhagat) May 2, 2016
And Twitter being Twitter, jumped at the occasion to convey “wishes”:
@chetan_bhagat @amazonIN #ImDead uninstalled amazon app
— GRV (@GAURAVCH2) May 3, 2016
@chetan_bhagat @amazonIN Congratulations Sir, u deserved it. See who is reading your novel pic.twitter.com/IbIj9ncPx8
— Office of PAPPU (@priyankkela) May 2, 2016
@chetan_bhagat @amazonIN chalo koi nahi… Galti sab se hoti hai…
— Siddharth Dasgupta (@siddharthdg) May 2, 2016
And then this savage tweet happened:
@chetan_bhagat abey kyon karta hai paid tweets @amazonIN
— The Chakolebaaz (@Chakolebaaz) May 2, 2016
If I was Chetan Bhagat, I would either stop tweeting or stop existing. But massive respect to Chetan for continuing to do what he does best: be the butt of all jokes.
