Disclaimer: Spoilers ahead for episode 3, Season 8 of Game of Thrones
The last episode of Game of Thrones left everyone more than a little surprised – and that’s the understatement of the century. Arya’s quick actions, right at the end, saved humanity in the fictional world of GoT.
But for a lot of people on Twitter, it didn’t align with how they’d built the Night King and the endless winter to be the biggest, scariest threat in the seven kingdoms and beyond.
I’ve watched #GameofThrones since episode 1 aired. And I’ve said it before: “if the white walker battle plays out in one go, I will be disappointed.” 6 seasons of “winter is coming” and it leads up to just one episode. Just wow. 😒

Tonight’s #GameofThrones summed up in one pic.

Also it was like the “cotton candy” episode. Loved it the entire time you’re eating it. But afterwards you sort of feel disappointed. pic.twitter.com/UFbDDodg8j
This review for the latest GOT episode sums it up perfectly for me. I was pretty disappointed and underwhelmed. #GOT #GameofThrones pic.twitter.com/UIQmaMAunT

Is it just me or did anyone else felt kind of disappointed with this episode? There were a lot of epic moments but there were also moments that made me question if this is the same show that I loved 8 years ago. #GameOfThrones

#GameofThrones Very disappointed, we’ve just found out that Night King dies early, with absolutely no backstory or reasoning whatsoever other than “I’m bad, I want to kill everyone”, fucking shit episode ending, I wanted a grand reveal.

#IntoTheBadlands #SaveTheBadLands I have to say, I am disappointed with this episode. I guess I’m not surprised though. Looks like Game of Thrones wins this week. pic.twitter.com/lCh2wvI1cL
— JonA (@JonathanAbad187) April 30, 2019
So disappointed they did Night King like that.
— BMahdy (@BMahdyy) April 29, 2019
A badass raising the dead and surviving fire and he’s getting stabbed like that…. #NightKing #GameofThrones
This is very possibly the most disappointed I’ve ever been about a tv show. So many options and ways to take the story just rank bad writing. Kind of annoyed by how invested I’d become. The fan fiction much more entertaining #GameofThrones has had a #thelastjedi esque failure.
— David Porter (@davidrcporter) April 29, 2019
Bit disappointed of S8E3 of #GameofThrones
— edgardini (@edgardini360) April 30, 2019
Did not mind the bad lighting, it was night
Did not mind Melisandre showing up out of nowhere
What I did not like was:
Jon Snow can walk miles in a war with no problems
Main heroes were attacked by dozens of wights and none were hurt 1/2 pic.twitter.com/gauzpWw8dh
Disappointed, the Night King didn’t even draw his sword, #scam #GameofThrones

Pretty disappointed in tonight’s game of thrones episode. Felt more like fan fiction than actual game of thrones. Everyone had plot armor. Ugh. Winds of Winter can’t come soon enough pic.twitter.com/DhsCR5m8R3

Has anyone else watched #GameofThrones and is struggling to put into words how bitterly disappointed they are?
— Andy (@iEmpire_Andy) April 29, 2019
also GAME OF THRONES SPOILERS /////////////////
— Laura (@symmetryoriginn) April 29, 2019
I’m quite disappointed that none of the more important characters died. like don’t get me wrong I’m VERY grateful none of the starks or brienne died but surely we could have spared someone. like jaime. why didn’t he die
I’m going to keep this Game of Thrones comment as spoiler free as possible.
— Adrian Schuurmans (@OzIndie) April 30, 2019
I’m really disappointed with the conclusion (or lack thereof) in the last episode. Not who did it or how, that was pretty awesome, just the overall resolution (or lack thereof).
Nothing against Arya. I love her & she’s a badass bitch, but this story isn’t about the “shock value”. It’s much deeper than that. There’s build up, foreshadowing, prophecies, legends… I’m really disappointed it was handled this way. #GameOfThrones #BattleOfWinterfell

Who else was disappointed with Dany and Jon Snow battle on dragons? Felt they could have done more TBH

This fucker and his squad walked around for 7 seasons just to go out like this? Game of Thrones disappointed me BIG TIME pic.twitter.com/vyCPe4iKFA

— Synaptic Vesicle (@Periperichicke3) April 29, 2019
Heavily disappointed.
Jon snow is shown smaller than theon in this epic battle.
Really disappointed wtf GOT pic.twitter.com/rJkICk0ugs
#GameOfThrones Wtf was that ending?! U show runners do realise its the final season and we would like a satisfying yet bittersweet and most importantly good ending and u decide to kill a hyped up antagonist in the most anticlimactic way in the 3rd episode? So disappointed
— RGS Mystic (@RGSMystic) April 29, 2019
I’m extremely disappointed in Game of Thrones. I have waited for 8 years for this episode only to watch The White Walkers fall because their idiot king couldn’t stop a sneak attack.
— Blake (@BlakeVirtonis) April 29, 2019
What’s next? Dany dies next episode because she slid off a banana peel!? #GameofThrones pic.twitter.com/cVzA1b3Box
Genuinely disappointed with #GameofThrones #GameofThronesepisode3 8 seasons of buildup for a one episode close. Just doesn’t make sense the biggest threat to mankind dies that easily and without much loss to the living.
— Mitchell (@iMitchellation) April 29, 2019
Not gonna lie, I was disappointed. Terrible battle. Also terrible end to what was supposed to be the big bad that was built up for years now. Lame #GameofThrones

SO LAME.
Im so disappointed.
Valar Morghulis my ass!
No meaning behind anything, KN is just plain villain without personality, and many more pic.twitter.com/UoYKtCkvHp
Unpopular opinion: Last night’s episode of Game of Thrones fell short of expectations. Anti-climactic, lazy writing, and typical Hollywood scenes, especially Arya’s. All that build up since episode 1 was for nothing. Disappointed. #GamefThrones
— José Javier Santana (@Javy_7213) April 29, 2019
That episode of Game Of Thrones was the most disappointed I've been since Suicide Squad.
— Mikey Richardson (@Mikey_R_1992) April 29, 2019
I hope there is a plot twist and the Night King come back some way.
— Waseem (@waseem_2085) April 29, 2019
His death this way was so disappointed and a kind of lazy writing.
Ep3 a great episode with a very bad ending.#gameofthrones
Me: Afraid some of the main characters are going to die.
— Jamie Bennett (@JamieBennett6) April 29, 2019
Also me: Disappointed that almost no main characters died #GameOfThrones #TheLongNight pic.twitter.com/wp0W7b3AHW
Okay so while I absolutely love that Arya killed the Night King I’m just a tiny bit disappointed because…in the last seasons they fucking made us believe that we’re gonna see Jon and the NK have this epic fight but then it never happens #GameOfThrones #BattleOfWinterfell
— Cristina (@criss_flori) April 29, 2019
Anybody else disappointed with last nights Game of Thrones?
— adam ford (@adamford87) April 30, 2019
1. Couldnt see shit
2. Is that it all the talk about the knight king and hes now dead?
3. Why did he want to kill Bran?
4. Who died (couldn’t see a thing)
5. All that build up just for the knight king to disappear #GOT
#GameofThrones
— Synaptic Vesicle (@Periperichicke3) April 29, 2019
Am I the only who disappointed with this episode. They hyped Jon snow but they made him look like a surviver in the battle . Arya killing Night king doesn’t give any justice to the remaining hyped characters.
😢. disappointed . pic.twitter.com/fqq0W5XabM
How am I the only one who’s very disappointed by this episode’s ending #GameofThrones
— Khaoula 🌻 (@BoringAndProud) April 29, 2019
I’m so fucking furious. I’ve never been more disappointed in #GameofThrones. This episode was a disaster, and I honestly think it ruined the show for me. I wont spoil it for those who haven’t seen it, but this was a huge disappointment and slap in the face to fans of the series.
— Corbin Lee (@YoItsCorbeano) April 29, 2019
Disappointed with #GameOfThrones Season 8 Episode 3. Too easy, and too soon to defeat the Night King. The Undead Dragon was under used, as was Ghost, the White Walkers, and even the Night King himself.
— Andrew Weimholt (@AndrewWeimholt) April 29, 2019
I’m so disappointed with #GameofThrones. Bennioff & Weiss have revealed themselves for the hack writers they are. I’ve been saying for years they suck, but last night 100% confirms their idiocy. I’m about to rant, so strap in. pic.twitter.com/Q3o4fNkLD3
— Matthew Kadish (@MatthewKadish) April 29, 2019
Tonight’s #gameofthrones was about to be overwhelmingly incredible. But when you offer impossible odds, during a final season, someone you love has to fucking die. Thus this episode was just ok. Kinda disappointed actually.
— Steven Greenstreet ❌ (@MiddleOfMayhem) April 29, 2019
Disappointed or not, it’ll still be interesting to see dragons battle with wildfire, when the last war finally takes place in the coming episodes.
