Disney just dropped a trailer of the nostalgia-inducing classic, Dumbo. The elephant with his big flappy ears, and his heartbreaking tale, will be brought to life by Tim Burton with his iconic Burton-esque touch.
There’s little hope for Dumbo’s failing circus from the 1940s. The only hope left is to hand it over to the villainous entrepreneur, V.A. Vandevere, who plans to completely transform it into something ‘great’.
The devastating separation of Dumbo from his mother after she’s sold off by the new boss left us haunted and devastated. The new trailer has that bit too – Momma Elephant sticking her trunk out to wrap around baby Dumbo. This emotional moment is accentuated even further as the chilling tones of Baby Mine waft over.
The rich and eerie atmosphere of the world of Dumbo which is seen to be crumbling around him perfectly fits the style of Burton.
Disney already has a number of live-action remakes of its classics in their to-do-list: Aladdin, The Lion King, Mulan, Lilo and Stitch, and The Little Mermaid, and the kid in us cannot be happier.
