1. Crocodile House, West Africa

With all due respect to the designer’s fascination with the animal, this crocodile-shaped house looks every bit as scary as the giant reptile. Designed by Moussa Kalo, this strange abode is situated in the middle of Abidjan, the former capital of the Ivory Coast, in West Africa. However, Moussa Kalo died two months before the project was completed.

2. Desert Nomad House, Arizona

Located in the harsh desert of Arizona, the astonishing Desert Nomad was built in 2005 and is spread across five acres. It has three rusted steel and glass cubes, each overlooking the mystical desert!

3. The World Residences At Sea, Florida

What can be more adventurous than experiencing the world while sailing on the ocean? This 644-foot-long luxury ship is fitted with 12-decks and is the world’s largest private residential yacht. The ship sails around the world every two to three years, according to the route-plan decided by its residents.

4. The One-square Meter House, Germany

This one is definitely the Nano of houses. Conceptualized by Berlin-based architect, Van Bo Le-Mentzel, the house has wheels for mobility. Lay it down if you want to sleep and prop it up when you want to turn it into a mini-shop with a window!

5. Giant Seashell House, Mexico

This exceptionally beautiful house, shaped like a giant sea-shell, has a vibrant mix of colours in its interiors. Built in 2006, the main purpose behind its design was for it to blend with its natural surroundings.

6. Slide House, Japan

Surely a dream-house for kids, this uber-cool home in Japan has slides connecting all its three floors. It also has a staircase for people who don’t like fun! But who wants to use stairs when you can just glide down the slide!

7. Old Water-Tower Home, Belgium

I can guarantee that most of us have always wanted to climb to the top of the water towers in our neighborhood. Well, this one in Belgium is hides a luxurious home inside! The construction of this 30 meter high tower, known as the Chateau d’eau, was completed between 1938 and 1941. The brainchild of architect Mauro Brigham, the house is equipped with all the modern utilities that you’ll need to live a comfortable life!

8. Stone House, Portugal

This stone house in Portugal is straight out of a fantasy set from The Lord of the Rings. It’s called the Casa do Penedo, which means House of the Rock. Built using four large boulders, the stone house attracts thousands of tourists throughout the year.

9. The Flintstones Inspired Home, Los Angeles

The real-life replica of Fred and Wilma’s cavernous home from the classic 60′s cartoon, the Flintstones, this house has an intriguing charm to it. Designed by Dick Clark, the rock-like home offers a breathtaking view of the Boney Mountains, Pacific Ocean, and Los Angeles.

10. The Mushroom House, New York

Also called the Pod House, it is located in the town of Perinton, New York. The design of the Mushroom house was inspired by Queen Anne’s lace, a flowering plant. But it ended up earning the name the Mushroom house due to its funny shape. The house comprises of five inter-connected pods, in which one pod serves as the living and dining area, one as the kitchen, and two as sleeping areas. There’s an additional half-pod which serves as an open deck area.
