We Indians take our festivals very seriously. And Diwali is certainly one of those festivals that we all love. Well, there’s some good news for Indians all across the globe. The United States postal service has decided to release new postage stamps to commemorate the Festival of Lights this October.
The stamp has a traditional diya with a golden background. The copy in the stamp says, Forever USA, trying to establish a connect with the festival across United States.
The stamp value will be equal to the current First Class Mail 1-ounce price.
The photograph used in the stamp was taken by Sally Andersen-Bruce and designed by Greg Breeding, according to the US Postal Service Department. The stamp was designed based on public suggestions.
It will be first issued at the Indian Embassy in New York city.
Every year, the postage department receives several suggestions for stamps, some of which are incorporated. It is indeed a proud moment for Indians across the globe to see this festival being celebrated across the globe.
