Despite being a small-sized nation, Singapore is leaving no stone unturned to keep the spark alive in the country’s diversity. Diwali is next on our national calendar and Singapore is celebrating the festival of lights in its own style.
Singapore’s Land Transport Authority in association with the LISHA (Little India Shopkeepers and Heritage Association) recently launched a Diwali-themed train in the country to join in on the festival celebration this year.
Launched by Transport Minister Khaw Boon Wan on October 15, the train is all set to run on the North East Line (NEL) till mid-November.
Vibrant and colourful, this special train seems like a treat for the citizens of Singapore, where about 10 percent of the population belong to India.
And not just the train interiors, even the stations are adorned with intricate designs of rangolis, diyas, peacocks, and lotuses.
The roads across Little India are also full of gigantic Diwali-themed lights.
Will we see this in India as well? Let’s hope so!
