On Friday, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced that it will be issuing new banknotes of ₹20. According to The Economic Times, the denominations will be in the Mahatma Gandhi (New) series, and will bear the signature of the central bank’s governor Shaktikanta Das. All banknotes in the denomination of ₹20 issued by the RBI in the earlier series will also continue to be legal tender.
The base colour of the note is greenish-yellow. The dimensions of the note are 63 mm x 129 mm.

1. Micro letters ‘RBI’, ‘भारत ‘, ‘INDIA’ and ’20’.
2. See through register with denominational numeral 20.
3. Portrait of Gandhi on the centre and Ashoka Pillar on the right.
4. Windowed demetalised security thread with inscriptions ‘भारत’ and RBI.
5. Denominational numeral २० in Devnagari.
6. Guarantee Clause, Governor’s signature with Promise Clause and RBI emblem towards right of Mahatma Gandhi portrait.
7. Number panel with numerals growing from small to big on the top left side and bottom right side.
