10 Cities That Are Apparently The Best Places In India To Start Your Career

The best option for a person just starting out on the job circuit would be to work in a city where the jobs provide a combination of a good work-life balance, a promise of salary growth and a variety of opportunity. Obviously, it’s a bit of a daunting task when you have to choose between a small city with a low cost of living and a dense metropolis with a variety of offers, but this list might help you get started.

Here are some of the best Indian cities to start your career, according to Business Insider. Please note, these aren’t put in any particular order.

1. Bengaluru

According to Payscale.com, the average median salary in Bengaluru is Rs. 5,85,527 per annum and the credit growth rate is 29%. 7 out of 10 engineering students also consider Bengaluru as their first job preference, according to study by Aspiring Minds Research Cell (AMRC). Combine this with the fact that it’s one of the leading IT cities in India, and it’s understandable why this is one of the best places to start your career.

2. Delhi

There’s a good entrant job market in Delhi, with an attractive median salary of Rs. 482,307 per annum. 32% of the respondents in the AMRC study also consider Delhi to be the best place to start your job, and with its reputation as a commercial hub, it’s become a popular starting point.

3. Hyderabad

Hyderabad is famous for its IT sector, being home to big companies like Google, Facebook and Microsoft. The median salary here is Rs. 489,505 per annum, the employment growth rate is 10% and 30% of the respondents in the AMRC study consider it the best city, so the credentials are legit.

4. Mumbai

The median salary here is Rs. 498,475 per annum, and while the cost of living, especially rent wise, is very high, the number of job opportunities do in a way offset that fact. In fact, there are almost 19,281 jobs ads for freshers in Mumbai.

5. Chandigarh

Chandigarh is famous for its telecommunications sector, and the median salary here is Rs. 552,485 per annum. Also, 22% of the people here earn more than 10 lakhs a year, making this one of the best places to start out with a job.

6. Gurgaon

With an average salary of almost Rs. 750,000 per year, Gurgaon, at least in some ways, tops the list of best places to start working at. Combine the fact that it has an employment growth rate of 11%, and you have one of the best places to begin your career at.

7. Chennai

With an average salary of Rs. 444,235 per annum and an employment growth rate of 6%, Chennai is a great place to start off. It’s also home ground for a number odf South Indian companies, so there’s a lot of job opportunities available.

8. Noida

A good place to start off, especially for freshers, Noida has a median salary of Rs. 500,000 per annum. It’s also well known as a strong city of IT professionals, and the employment growth rate here is 14%.

9. Pune

The average salary in Pune is Rs. 530,918 per annum. It’s also well known for the large number of IT, automobile and manufacturing companies present, which translates to higher job opportunities.

10. Ahmedabad

With low house rents, an employment growth rate is 2% and a per capita income of Rs. 80,374, Ahmedabad is another place popular with people just starting out on the job circuit.
