Women In Haryana Get Free Bus Rides On Raksha Bandhan

The plan to give women free travel on state roadways buses in Haryana on Raksha Bandhan has been quite a success. According to The New Indian Express , hundreds of women have already availed the facility, which was a much needed gift from the Haryana government. The occasion also saw social activists tying ‘Rakhis’ to police officers, jail authorities and others.

Apart from giving women free bus travel on the 28th and 29th of August, the government also launched it’s first all-women police station. These moves are part of a drive to change the image of Haryana and make it more women-friendly.
