18 Trippy TV Shows That Are Perfect To Watch When You’re Stoned

Rohit Bhattacharya

There’s shows about weed, and then there’s weed about shows. Wait, that’s not right. Basically, there’s TV shows that go really well with a little baggie, some might say a little too well *Dun, Dun, Dun!*. You can’t argue with the fact that there’s few things better than lighting up and tuning out with a wacko show after a long-ass day. So here’s a few that might do the trick, ya stoney bums!

Check it!

1. Adventure Time

Finn and Jake wile out in a cartoon wonderland that’s totally wack but surprisingly poignant. Take my word for it, weed and Adventure Time were best friends in their previous life.

2. Planet Earth II

This show will make you say, “Whoa, duuude” at least a million times. The shots the team gets of our beautifully terrifying planet are ace, and it’s all narrated by Sir David Attenborough’s soothing timbre.

3. Ugly Americans

Mark Lilly is a social worker in a New York that’s seen an influx of all things supernatural. Getting everyone to live together is just another job though, whether you’re a Mexican or a conscious venus flytrap. Watch this adult cartoon, it’s great!

4. Workaholics

An all-time favourite of stoners everywhere, Adam, Anders and Blake work at a telemarketing company and have no real ambition as such. They are, however, totally genius improv masters in real life, which translates to absolute hilarity on the screen.

5. Trailer Park Boys

This one’s not for everyone, but it might tickle your stoner boner. A bunch of lovable (?) hicks try everything under the sun to get a little cash going, and they smoke a whole lotta reefer while doing it.

Vice

6. Eastbound and Down

Kenny Powers likes to get fucked up, play baseball and ride his jet-ski, and honestly, there’s nothing wrong with that. This show’s got a million laughs a second, thanks in no small part to the comedic workings of Danny McBride, Steve little and a recurring Will Ferrell.

7. Superjail

Ultra violent, insane, absolutely fuckin’ bonkers, this show is all of that. But it’s also quite a trip when you’ve been partaking. It’s about one of the most bizarro, brutal prisons in the world, and it’s under a volcano!

Wikia

8. Space ghost: Coast to Coast

Adult Swim always keep shit weird, and this show’s no different. It takes an old Hanna-Barbara superhero called Space Ghost, and makes him interview real people, all while dealing with his arch nemeses Zorak and Moltar.

Blastr

9. Cosmos

Cosmos is presented by the all-knowing Neil deGrasse Tyson, but the real kicker is that it’s produced by freakin’ Seth MacFarlane of Family Guy fame. This docu-series is no joke though, as it takes viewers on an informative journey through space and time itself.

10. Bob’s Burgers

I didn’t want to put Family Guy and its ilk on this list, considering they’re on pretty much every list anyway. Bob’s Burgers though is a bit underrated, which is really messed up ‘cos this show is really funny, and those cartoon burgers look delish!

Youngfolks

11. Da Ali G Show

Sacha Baron Cohen was always a G, the world only realised it after Borat. Way before that though, he was doing Da Ali G Show, inappropriately interviewing celebrities under the guise of London Rastafarian rudeboy Ali G. Watch!

12. It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia

Probably the most fucked up show on this list. A group of friends run a pub and get into the weirdest situations possible. I don’t know how this show got approved for TV, but I’m so glad it did.

Fxnetworks

13. Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations

Food shows are a no-brainer when you’re feeling a little schmoozy. They pair great with the munchies (unless your fridge is empty) and watching Bourdain saunter along eating and raconteuring makes you feel like a bit of a food savant yourself.

14. Portlandia

This sketch show stars Carrie Brownstein and Fred Armisen, comedians extraordinaire and all around funny beings. Watch for the absolutely far out distances their sketches seem to end up in.

Ifc

15. Rick and Morty

The adult cartoon that’s got everyone jonesing for some Mulan schezwan sauce. Timid and slightly fucked up Morty and his majorly fucked up alcoholic grandfather Rick travel through space and multiple dimensions causing havoc and testing limits.

16. Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency

This adaptation of the Douglas Adams novel series stars Elijah Wood and an annoyingly endearing Samuel Barnett. Elijah plays a down on his luck bellhop who witnesses a murder… sort of. I won’t tell you any more, just know that it’s good – it is based on the work of Douglas Adams after all.

17. Black Mirror

Don’t watch this if you’re prone to having paranoia fits. Black Mirror is the mother of all things wrong with the world, and it will take you on a journey you don’t realize you’re on. Don’t get me wrong though, it’s a mind-blowing show.

Tv

18. Ultimate Beastmaster

A weird choice, but just go with it. This is an American Ninja Warrior style show, where contestants go through a gruelling obstacle course inside of this dragon shaped thingy, and the best one wins some cash or some such. It’ll keep you on the edge of your couch/gadda!
